GTA 5 News: Grand Theft Auto 5 launch date pushed back from spring on Xbox 360, PS3.
The GTA 5 release date won’t be until Sept 17, 2013 on Xbox 360 and PS3, according to publisher Rockstar Games, so don’t make plans to visit Los Santos just yet.
“The September release date moves the launch back from its original projected release window of spring 2013 in order to allow additional development time,” the company said in an official press release.
The good news is that Rockstar Games remains optimistic about the Grand Theft Auto 5’s development, so its not as if the game is in jeopardy.
"Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet," said Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser
"We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months."
When is GTA 5 coming out?
GTA 5 will be out in seven and a half months, meaning it doesn’t stand a chance to be the fourth consecutive video game by Rockstar Games with a mid-May release date window.
Like the Will Smith of July 4th movie premiers, Rockstar Games controlled this release date window with Max Payne 3 in 2012, LA Noire in 2011, and Red Dead Redemption in 2010.
But with a solid campaign mode storyline going and multiplayer to boot, more development time for GTA 5 is better than release date consistency, at least from the gamers’ perspective.
Between now and the Grand Theft Auto 5 release date in September, there should be a sequel or two to the GTA 5 trailer 2 leading up to the game’s launch.
