News: The Mega One is in store for an innovative new adventure.

The Capcom Europe blog has scooped Keiji Inafune's Comic-Con announcement with the unveiling of Mega Man Universe for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Like other recent Mega Man efforts, it'll be a downloadable title available for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

While further details were hard to come by in the announcement, Capcom made several pronouncements about Mega Man Universe:

  • They aim to deliver the most creative Mega Man experience yet.
  • Imagination is the star of the game.
  • Gamers can expect Mega Man Universe to bring the core experience fans want.
  • It's official: classic gaming will never be same again.

What does all this mean? Not even Inafune is ready to say exactly what just yet.

?We are thrilled to finally be able to announce Mega Man Universe,? said Kenji Inafune, Head of Research and Development Management for Capcom Entertainment. ?This game will break the mold and challenge the conventional wisdom of what a Mega Man game can be. When fans finally get to see it, I believe they'll envision their most far-out Mega Man dreams coming true.?

A teaser trailer posted on GameSpot hints at a massive Capcom crossover with Mega Man morphing into Street Fighter's Ryu and Ghosts 'n' Goblins' Arthur to battle Dr. Wily's robotic minions:

Inafune will reveal more about Mega Man Universe during next week's San Diego Comic-Con.
