News: Sylvester Stallone + Spread Gun = AWESOME!
A team of elite mercenaries...
Head to South America on a mission...
To overthrow an evil dictator.
Thus begins
The Expendables: 8-Bit Game, a new Facebook game based on the movie of the same name starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and every other major action star of the 80s (even Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger have cameos).
The Expendables will likely be the most fun you have at the theater all Summer and this NES-inspired game will definitely set the mood.
Based very heavily on
Contra, the game gives players a choice between Yin Yang (played by Jet Li), Lee Christmas (played by Jason Statham) and team leader Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone). Leaderboards will allow the top players to compete for prizes and
Expendables-branded swag.
Li's character is a whirling dervish of doom that also has an endless supply of ninja stars while Statham's character carries a Spread Gun that shoots knives. And yes, the game's logo is a skull with
wings made out of guns and knives. The world is not ready for this amount of concentrated awesome.
I would have eaten this up when I was eight. What does it say about me that I still love it at 28. At only three levels long, it's not huge and in-depth, but The Expendables: 8-Bit Game would have worked great as a DSiWare release.
The Expendables opens in theaters on August 13.
