Star Wars: Force Unleashed II detailed and dated @ Gaming Target

News: It's coming October 26 and LucasArts didn't comment on the whole "killing Yoda" thing.

The latest issue of GamePro has unleashed the first extended coverage of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and the long-running game magazine has given gamers an in-depth look at one of the most anticipated games of the Fall.

But first, the game's Facebook page is celebrating Star Wars Day ("May the Fourth be with you") by pronouncing an October 26 release date for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. However, LucasArts still hasn't announced which platforms the game will appear on.

With that out of the way, on to the new information...

The sequel opens several months after the first game (and a year before A New Hope. The game begins in a prison on Kamino, where it's revealed that Starkiller died at the end of the first game and this new Starkiller is a clone being trained by Vader in the ways of the Dark Side.

Naturally, being a clone and being bossed around by Darth Vader is not something the new Starkiller is interested in, so he escapes and seeks out the imprisoned Rahm Kota on Cato Neimodia. This is where he fights the giant King Kong-like beast (known as a Gorog) from the teaser trailer in gladiatorial combat.

Then it gets weird when Kota tells Starkiller that it's impossible to clone a Jedi.

Starkiller then travels to Dagobah (just as the game's website foretold) and visits the "Dark Side cave" where he experiences a wild vision involving mutated versions of himself (shades of Alien Resurrection?).

Developers Haden Blackman and Julio Torres also discussed the new Force powers that Starkiller will use in his travels including Force Grenade (charging an enemy with Force Lightning and throwing them), Jedi Mind Trick and Force Fury (that "turns your powers up to 11"). Blackman also hints that players might be able to use a Lightsaber to hack off their opponent's limbs in Force Unleashed II (pending ESRB approval that is).
