News: And it might even be coming to the PS3.

Kotaku is reporting that Atlus has confirmed to the Japanese gaming magazine Dengeki PlayStation that Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 5 is in development.

According to the Kotaku report on the article, Persona director Katsura Hashino wants to take the series to new places. "We are preparing to start work on the next Persona," he said. "I want to add things that are being expected of the series. I also want to change things that can be changed within those boundaries."

A platform for Persona 5 was not revealed, but many people consider Persona 4 the last hurrah of the PlayStation 2. So a PlayStation 3 (a first for the famed RPG series) or PSP release seems likely.

We'll have more soon.
