Sony has announced (via the PlayStation.Blog) that the MAG open beta is now playable on the PlayStation Network.
From now until January 10 at 11:59 PM, gamers will get a chance to play two different game modes in Zipper Interactive's upcoming shooter: 64-player sabotage and 256-player domination.
If you haven't yet downloaded the beta, Sony promises that the mostly painless process requires only three steps:
1. Log on to the PlayStation Store, Select УView All By Title -> M Titles -> MAGФ and download the MAG Beta file (298 MB)
2. Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 37 MB)
3. After the reboot, the Beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB Ц 2.3 GB depending on your region)
According to the comments section of the PlayStation.Blog posting, many MAG beta users are having network connection problems. So if you have problems, keep trying, and Sony has promised that fixing this "server hiccup" is their highest priority.
MAG will be released in stores exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on January 26.
