Earlier today, MCV reported that a record three million copies of Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were shipped to the United Kingdom. Now, GfK-ChartTrack, the country's official game sales tracking firm, has confirmed the title also holds the single day sales record for any game ever in the UK.
According to the report, 1.23 million copies of Modern Warfare 2 were sold yesterday. Absolutely crushing the previous record of 609,000 copies, set by Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008. For those scoring at home, the launch day for the most recent Call of Duty was twice as good as the launch day for the fourth GTA game.
According to MCV, a member of one in 24 UK homes purchased a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 yesterday. That is just amazing.
